Public Lands Happy Hour tonight (6/24) at Más o Menos with MDLT and NPCA
The Mojave Desert Land Trust and National Parks Conservation Association are holding a Public Lands Happy Hour tonight at Más o Menos here in Joshua Tree.
If you are wondering what is going on with the copious amount of public lands that surround the Morongo Basin, the free event will help shed some light and answer questions regarding threats to our California desert. The Mojave Desert Land Trust have been holding advocacy workshops to get more folks informed on how to participate in protecting public lands, and the National Parks Conservation Association will also be on hand to answer questions regarding activities in our nearby National Parks and Preserves.
Z107.7 has also released an interview with NPCA Desert Director Chance Wilcox and Desert Program Manager Mason Osgood on mining activities near the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park in Twentynine Palms. An Australian mining company has staked claims in the Pinto Mountain region – also known as Music Valley. Similar mining activity from the same company at the Colosseum Mine in the Mojave National Preserve has been devastating to the previously protected wilderness area.
There will be reps from the NPCA and MDLT at tonight’s Public Lands Happy Hour.
