Opponents of big solar are planning a protest Saturday afternoon in Joshua Tree. Opponents cite the threat to desert vistas, the demand on local water supplies, and the negative impact on tourism. The protest was originally conceived by members of the Morongo Basin Democratic Club, but was expanded to include other grass-roots organizations. The protest will be held at 1 p.m. in front of the County Government Building on the highway at White Feather Road in Joshua Tree, and is expected to last about two hours.
