Morongo Basin’s water districts each maintain hundreds of miles of water pipe. Each system has a mix of older and newer pipes. Unexpected leaks can occur in either. Larger leaks will trigger pressure alarm systems, but water districts often rely on residents to let them know about smaller leaks. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has this report on the best way to inform your water company…

If you notice water or a wet spot where it should not be, call your water company as soon as possible. Most have leak reporting hot lines that are monitored 24/7. Be prepared to provide the address or cross streets where the leak is located, and describe the leak as bubbling up, puddling/pooling, or if a running stream, it’s called a “gusher.” Your contact information will also be helpful in case the repair crew has trouble locating the leak.
