The City of Twentynine Palms moves closer and closer everyday to starting construction on Project Phoenix. Reporter Cassidy Zimarik has the planning commission’s latest update…
Community Development Director Travis Clark provided an update on Project Phoenix in the Twentynine Palms Planning Commission’s July 7 meeting. The project is tied up at the moment with some infrastructure work involving Southern California Edison, Frontier, and Spectrum. Clark stated that hopefully the speed bump in progress is resolved by the end of the month. Other than the infrastructure work, Project Phoenix is almost done with design development with the next step being a new cost estimate from the engineer and architect before the city moves forward with construction. Project Phoenix officially broke ground on January 16, 2020 and will include a new community center and the Joshua Tree National Park Cultural and Visitor Center in downtown Twentynine Palms.
