With the Fourth of July falling in the middle of the week this year, many people are taking a long holiday on the road. Here with tips on how to drive safely over the holiday is Rebecca Havely…
CalTrans expects a record number of motorists to be traveling over the Fourth of July holiday this year. Traffic is expected to be worst between
3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 3. If you can, leave before or after those times. If you travel on the Fourth, leave early in the morning, preferably before 6 a.m., to minimize time spent in traffic. Remember that everyone will be returning on Sunday, July 8, so leave very early that day or even better, on Monday, July 9. And most importantly of all, designate a sober driver, have a full tank of gas, a charged cell phone, and plenty of patience.
