POWER OUT AT YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL OVER THE WEEKEND

Teachers at Yucca Valley High School report that the high school was without power Monday morning, and has been without power all weekend. According to County Fire Captain Rick Denison, Yucca Valley firefighters were called to a reported transformer explosion right across from the high school at 8:22 Saturday morning. Neighbors from blocks away told firefighters they heard the noise. Yucca Valley High School Music Director Bill Barrett held a music practice in the dark that morning, and teachers at the high school report the school is still without power this morning. School is still in session at the school, and a few classrooms in the lower half of the school do have power. Southern California Edison has been telling school officials all morning that power would be restored any minute.
