Some residents may have received a notice from Southern California Edison about a maintenance outage scheduled Wednesday, June 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for parts of Twentynine Palms and Wonder Valley. A deteriorated pole and broken switch must be replaced prior to the monsoon season. A Facebook post by Southern California Edison Sunday said the planned outage in Wonder Valley has been cancelled; Z107.7 has confirmed the planned outage (Outage # 770258) in Wonder Valley has been cancelled. There may still be other planned outages in other areas; those have not been cancelled. Residents who will be affected by the power outage and who do not have transportation or someplace cool to go are urged to call Reach Out Morongo Basin at 760-361-1410 no later than Tuesday, June 28, to arrange for a ride to the Twentynine Palms Senior Center. Residents will be picked up in the morning and returned to their homes in late afternoon. Families should bring games and toys to keep the children occupied, and snacks and lunches, or be prepared to purchase food from nearby restaurants.
