POWER OUTAGE DARKENS TWENTYNINE PALMS, SCHOOLS STILL OPEN

Update: as of 8:30 AM, power was restored to all schools.

A power outage affected nearly 4,000 homes, schools, and businesses in the Twentynine Palms area this morning. According to Southern California Edison, the outage of unknown origin, hit at 1:22 a.m. and affected 3,987 customers. Edison crews have restored power to some areas and expect have all the power back by 10:00. Morongo Unified School Superintendent Tom Baumgarten told us that while some schools still did not have power, all schools were open as planned, as power is expected to be restored shortly after school starts. Baumgarten did say there may be some delays.
