A long-time art gallery in Joshua Tree may be closing its doors in June. Managing editor Tami Roleff fills in the details…
After 10 years, Frederick Fulmer, the founder of the Joshua Tree Art Gallery in downtown Joshua Tree, is looking for someone to take over the gallery, saying it’s now time for him to focus on his own artwork.
JTAG had its opening in 2009 in a space next to the Natural Sisters Café. The first artists featured were Diane Best, David Burnham, Fulmer, Steve Rieman, John Luckett, Karen Florek, and Tina Bluefield. A little over a year later it moved to its current location. JTAG hashosted over 90 exhibitions, including major shows featuring Ed Moses, Ken Izu, and Ed Ruscha. JTAG’s last show will be its Expo, which runs June 15-30.
Fullmer said he hopes someone will be interested in taking over the gallery to continue providing artists a professional space to showcase new work. Nevertheless, he says the legacy of JTAG won’t fade as it has a website.
JTAG
will continue to have an online presence representing artists with our Joshua
Tree Art Gallery website and Artsy.net location.”
