Marines with the Provost Marshall’s Office at the Combat Center in Twentynine Palms underwent training last week to help them better understand the use of equipment and force during escalations. The security guards were sprayed with pepper spray before conducting their training exercises to ensure they could still operate under the conditions presented. The Marines also practiced making arrests, searching suspects for weapons and other contraband, taking vertical knees, and shooting an M1014 combat shotgun. Marines are required to complete shotgun qualification to carry a shotgun in random anti-terrorism measures and at installation gates.
