As San Bernardino County residents continue to enjoy our parks and recreation facilities, it’s critical to remember — and practice — social distancing measures. Reporter Joshua King has some tips on how to responsibly play tennis with regards to social distancing…
Tennis does not require direct person-to-person contact, and it is a great activity for members of the same household to get some valuable exercise. However, it is important to take precautions to ensure everyone stays safe:
Do not play if you are exhibiting any symptoms of the coronavirus or if you’ve been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Do not play if you are a vulnerable individual due to your age or preexisting conditions. In addition to washing your hands, clean and wipe down equipment such as your racket and water bottle before going to the court. Do not share rackets or other gear. Bring a full water bottle with you, so you can avoid touching tap or water fountain handles. Use new balls and a new grip, if possible. Avoid touching court gates, fences, benches, etc., whenever possible. Try to stay at least six feet from the other players and do not make physical contact with them. Immediately wash or sanitize your hands after playing, but do not use the locker room or changing area.
Lastly, leave the facility immediately after play.
