PLANS FOR JOHNSON VALLEY OKTOBERFEST STILL UP IN THE AIR

No decision has been made yet about whether the Johnson Valley Improvement Association’s biggest fund-raiser of the year, Oktoberfest, will take place this year. Rebecca Havely explains…

Senator Shannon Grove’s Field Rep Dominic Heiden has been on the case about the Johnson Valley Oktoberfest, but his news makes planning almost impossible. There is no way to know if or when the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control will be able to authorize a permit for the event. The ABC is not considering any new applications for permits at this time. If the Johnson Valley Improvement Association goes forward with plans, and then the permit isn’t issued, a lot of beer will be wasted. Concerning next year’s Cinco de Mayo celebration, the ABC only grants beer and wine permits to 501(c )4 organizations, but it will consider permits for mixed drinks on a case-by-case basis. Stay tuned for updates!
