County supervisors voted April 7 to put repeal of the Fire Protection Service Zone Five, or FP-5, fire fee on the ballot this November. Now there may be more bad news for the county’s cash-strapped fire administration. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has the story…
It was a successful signature gathering effort by the non-profit Red Brennan Group that forced the repeal measure onto the ballot. But the public advocacy group is not yet done; the Red Brennan Group remains at odds over the FP5 expansion and the protest process; now it is contemplating action in federal court. Toward that end, the organization is in the process of identifying plaintiffs. If you own property in the 19,000-square-mile FP5 district and were unable to participate in the protest process in September 2018 because you never received a notice, weren’t able to obtain a protest form, or because you lack internet, or the necessary hardware or software, the Red Brennan wants to talk to you. Potential plaintiffs must also fit one of the following profiles:
One – District Resident/Property Owner
- San Bernardino County Resident
- San Bernardino County Registered Voter
Two – California Resident/Property Owner
- California Resident
- Not a San Bernardino County Resident
Three – Non-resident/Property Owner
- U.S. Citizen
- Not a California Resident
