Pioneertown residents urged to boil their well and tap water before drinking it

Residents of Pioneertown have received a boil water notice, urging them to boil tap and well water before using it.

Bacteria was found yesterday (August 1) in the water in CSA 70 Pioneertown service area. Residents are urged to boil their water before drinking it, or using it to brush teeth or prepare food. Resident who are unable to boil water can dilute 8 drops of bleach per 1 gallon, which will also kill the bacteria.

Potable water is available by request from 9 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Call 760-955-9885 for more information.

The notice was issued last night by the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, the San Bernardino County Health Department, and the CSA70 W-4 Water District. It was hand-delivered to affected residents.

The bacterial issue in the water is expected to be resolved within a week.
