It’s one of the most unique golf tournaments you’ll ever play. The Pioneer Pass Golf Challenge is seeking golfers, experts and duffers alike. It’s the golf experience you won’t forget: golf down the mountain from Big Bear to Pioneertown. Reporter Taylor Thacker says the Yucca Valley Rotary Club is accepting registrations for the charity golf tournament…
The tradition of extreme golf for charity continues this September with the Rotary Club of Yucca Valley! The Pioneer Pass Golf Challenge is a golf course that takes place on a mountain and was originally started in 1959 as an attempt to get a road through from Big Bear to Yucca Valley. The communities rallied together, joined by the Marine Corps, and dug a path for this road. The Golf Challenge came as a promotional idea to draw attention to the road concept. Today, the road is still just dirt, but the Pioneer Pass Golf Challenge lives on! This event lasts two days on September 6th and 7th in Big Bear. Registration fees are $130 per person and include golf fees, lunch and dinner fees, and prize opportunities. Proceeds from this event benefit the Miracle League and the MB Historical Society.
