The Pioneer Days celebration will return this year for its 85th annual event. Reporter Gary Daigneault sat down with Twentynine Palms Community Events Coordinator Christina Benton during the Z107.7 Up Close show Friday (August 20) where Benton discussed the upcoming event.
“This year, our theme is ‘Pioneering Spirit Alive in 2-9.’ We are kicking everything off Friday, October 1 [in front of the Desert Storm Homecoming & Victory Parade mural] at Desert Cycle Works from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The [Pioneer Days] judge and sheriff will be announced there, the grand martial will be announced there…October 14-17 is the Pioneer Days Carnival, the pancake breakfast, the parade, the old timers gathering at the Old School House Museum, [and] Children’s day at Luckie Park [to name a few].”
Looking to lend a hand in the festivities?
“We could use volunteers during the parade, at children’s day, for set up [and] break down, [and] trash pickup…I look forward to volunteers.”
