PIONEER DAYS OLD-TIMER GATHERING SATURDAY

The Pioneer Days’ Old Timers Gathering will celebrate the Old Timers of the Year, Bob and Edie Carter, as well as grand marshals George and Marybeth Hall and Jim and Sue Kedis, and military grand marshal and Cleveland Spaight. The Twentynine Palms Historical Society selected the Carters as the Old Timers of the year due to their contributions to the community over the years. They operated Carter’s Cleaners until 1991, and Cottonwood Camping. Bob was a volunteer firefighter and captain with the fire department. Edie served on the Twentynine Palms Water District for 20 years and was named as Teacher of the Year by the Rotary Club in 2010 and Teacher of the Year at Oasis Elementary School in 2011. They were involved in the beginning of the Hi-Desert Medical Center, and were founding members of the Historical Society. Anyone who is interested in the history of Twentynine Palms is encouraged to come to the Old Timers Gathering on Saturday, October 17, from 1 to 4 p.m.
