The 2015 Pioneer Days Grand Marshals have been selected, George and Marybeth Hall and Jim and Sue Kedis are the 2015 Pioneer Days Grand Marshals. In the mid 1960s, George and Jim worked at the KB Market, bought the Plaza Market and ran it for almost 20 years along with Marybeth and Sue. They sold the market, and George ran Foster’s Freeze for almost 10 years, eventually buying out his sister. Jim opened up Jimmy the Greek’s with his wife Sue and ran that for many years. The Halls and Kedises also opened up The Iron Gate Mine Steakhouse and Saloon and ran that for many years.
Master Sergeant Cleveland Spaight is the Military Grand Marshal. Spaight served in Twentynine Palms, working at the base gas station in 1959-1960. He retired in Twentynine Palms in1978 from the Marine Corps after 23 years of service, then worked at Morongo Unified School District, retiring in 2009 after 19 years on the job. Spaight joined the Twentynine Palms Kiwanis Club in 2003, serving as club president. This year he was elected lieutenant governor of the club’s 47th Division.
