The Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce released the profit and loss report for the recent 2015 Pioneer Days Event. The figures show that the four- day celebration of the areas military, mining, and ranching history netted $20,448.50, after expenses of $6,365.95. The biggest income driver was the carnival, which netted over $12,000. Revenue for the food vendors and booths also generated a positive cash flow of $3,670, with the beer booth contributing almost $4,000. Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mary Reeves lauded the success of this year’s parade around the theme “Saluting Those Who Serve.” She said, “The parade this year was one for the Chamber’s record books. There were 72 entries and the parade was an hour long. There was a perfect balance of military and civilian entries.” Reeves added, “Having the AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall here in conjunction with Pioneer Days made a huge impact on our city’s whole celebration and to those who went and view it.” Thank you Melanie Robbins and Kim Ortamond for your dedication and hard work. The success of the event fell on these two ladies’ shoulders and they went above and beyond the call of duty.” Robbins and Ortamond resigned shortly after the event.
