The 87th annual Pioneer Days is running strong all weekend long in Twentynine Palms. The carnival at Luckie Park continues until Sunday, and family friendly events celebrating the history of Twentynine Palms are happening essentially from morning to night.
Last week on the Z107.7 Up Close Show, Gary Daigneault discussed Pioneer Days with Twentynine Palms Community Events Coordinator Scott Clinkscales and the Twentynine Palms Historical Society’s Dana Bowden. With a look at what you can expect tonight and tomorrow, here are snippets from that conversation.
Tonight, expect a free concert at Luckie Park, performed by local band Forever Came Calling, whom Clinkscales describes as “they’re like a pop punk kind of band. That’ll be down at Luckie Park. They’ll be right in front of the beer garden. It’s gonna be a rockin’ good time.”
There will be a skate contest happening at the neighboring Twentynine Palms Skatepark.
Then for Sunday, Daigneault outlines the full day of events, saying:
“So you can plan your day by going to the Firefighters Pancake Breakfast, then go to the parade, then the craft fair and car show, then while you’re at Luckie Park, watch the kids play kickball, enjoy the children’s day. Then later on in the afternoon, head on down to the Old Schoolhouse Museum for the Old Timer’s Gathering.”
