PICK-UP CATCHES ON FIRE IN MORONGO VALLEY

A pick-up truck was completely destroyed in a fire early Saturday morning. According to a press release from the Morongo Valley Fire Department, fire fighters were dispatched at 12:15 a.m. to a vehicle fire on Highway 62 near Bella Vista Drive, where they found a Ford F-150, on the eastbound shoulder, fully engulfed in flames. While the driver was uninjured, the passenger sustained a mild burn to his hand from attempting to put out the blaze, prior to the arrival of fire fighters. He was treated and released by Morongo Valley paramedics. It took fire fighters about 10 minutes to knock down the fire, but remained on scene for about 2 hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
