A Phelan man was arrested Sunday, accused of driving under the influence causing injury. California Highway Patrol officer Jake Griffth said Edward Saenz, 25, was driving an Acura RSX northbound on Old Woman Springs Road about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. As Saenz approached Vin Rose Lane, he came upon a 2014 Dodge Ram pick-up truck driven northbound by Larry Bolton, 77, of Yucca Valley. Bolton was slowing to make a left turn onto Vin Rose when the truck was rear-ended by Saenz. Bolton’s passenger, Milton Johanson, 88, also of Yuca Valley, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center. Edward Saenz was arrested for driving under the influence causing injury, and for having a blood alcohol content more than .08 percent. booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
