The County Registrar of Voters has certified that a citizens’ petition to allow the commercial cultivation of marijuana in Yucca Valley had more than enough signatures to require further action by the Town Council. A minimum of 1,072 signatures were needed to put the issue on the ballot for the 2018 general election, or 1,608 signatures to trigger a special election. Of the 2,499 signatures on the petition, the Registrar determined that 1,737 signatures were valid. The Yucca Valley Town Council will now certify the petition at its meeting November 7 and then discuss its options. The petition would allow commercial cultivation and manufacturing of marijuana in certain zoning districts within town limits.
