PEDESTRIAN HIT CROSSING HIGHWAY IN YUCCA VALLEY

A man suffered a head injury after he was hit by a car while he was crossing Highway 62 in Yucca Valley Wednesday afternoon. Managing editor Tami Roleff witnessed the collision at 12:49 p.m. as the man, who has not been identified, was crossing the highway southbound at Kickapoo Trail on a green light and in the crosswalk. When he was in the middle of the number one lane of westbound Highway 62, a 2014 Dodge Charger, driven by Cassie Baccus, 22, of Morongo Valley, made a left turn from northbound Kickapoo to westbound Highway 62 and hit the man. The force of the collision sent the man onto the Charger’s hood and up into the air, cartwheeling to the ground, where he hit his head. The man immediately jumped up and holding his head, stumbled to the sidewalk on the north side of Highway 62 where he laid down until paramedics arrived. He was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. It’s not known at this time if Cassie Baccus will face any charges in the collision.
