Last night in Twentynine Palms, deputies from the Sheriff’s Department Morongo Basin Station responded to the intersection of Adobe Road and Verbena Drive for a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision at about 8:49 p.m. Deputies discovered Chic Evans, a 68-year-old male resident of Twentynine Palms, with multiple injuries. Evans was crossing Adobe Road near McDonalds when he was struck by a northbound Chevrolet Camaro. Evans was transported to Desert Hospital by air where he remains in critical condition. The accident is under investigation by the Morongo Basin Major Accident Investigation Team.
