A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Highway 62 in Morongo Valley Monday evening. Just after 8 p.m., Carla Bison, 61, of Morongo Valley, was crossing the highway, going toward the Country Market, just west of Lanning Lane. It was raining heavily at the time. Bison was hit in the #2 westbound lane by the left side of a 2019 Subaru Legacy, driven by Jacob Schofield, 26, of Wenatchee, Washington. Schofield immediately stopped and helped Bison. She suffered major injuries and was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. The California Highway Patrol reminds pedestrians to walk on the shoulder and to cross only at intersections or designated cross walks, and to wear bright or reflective clothing at night.
