PEDESTRIAN HIT BY VEHICLE IN JOSHUA TREE TUESDAY NIGHT

A man was hit and seriously injured while crossing Highway 62 in downtown Joshua Tree Tuesday night. According to County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Tuttle, the man, Kurt Kandall, 54, of Twentynine Palms, was crossing the highway northbound in front of Castaneda’s restaurant, just west of Park Boulevard, when he was hit by a 2011 Toyota, driven by Tasha Robertson, 28, of Yucca Valley, who was traveling westbound on the highway in the number one lane about 9:05 p.m. Kurt Kandall was not in a crosswalk when he was hit. He was taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with head trauma.
