PEDESTRIAN CLIPPED BY PICK-UP TRUCK MIRROR IN FLAMINGO HEIGHTS

Early Wednesday morning, a man was slightly injured when he was clipped by a mirror of a pick-up truck while walking on Highway 247 in Flamingo Heights. Robby Sims, 64, of Riverside, was walking northbound in the southbound lane of Old Woman Springs Road near Vin Rose about 5:45 a.m. It was still dark, and Sims was wearing dark-colored clothing. Driving southbound on the highway in a 2017 Dodge Ram truck was John Satterfield, 44, of Oak Hills. Satterfield noticed Sims in the center of the lane just prior to hitting him and attempted evasive action by steering to the right shoulder and braking. The left side mirror clipped Sims. The truck sustained a minor scratch. Satterfield reported the collision to CHP, but Sims continued walking northbound on the highway. Satterfield convinced Sims to stop, get out of the highway, and wait for rescue personnel. when the mirror of a pick-up truck driving northbound hit the man. Robby Sims was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center.
