The Chief of Staff for Congressman Paul Cook of Yucca Valley has confirmed that Cook is seriously considering running for the 1st District County Supervisor’s seat currently held by Robert Lovingood. Lovingood has said he would not run for reelection in 2020. John Sobel told Z107.7 News that Cook has not made a final decision and would make a formal announcement in about a week. If he runs for the 1st District, Cook, who lives in the 3rd District and is a former Yucca Valley Councilmember and State Assemblyman, would have to move to and live in the 1st District for at least a month prior to filing. The 1st District is directly north of the 3rd District. Yucca Valley resident Dawn Rowe is the Supervisor for the 3rd District and will also be running for her office. If Cook does decide to run for county supervisor, he would be at least the 16th Republican congressman who is not running for re-election.
