PAST HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR DIPLOMA

Former local high school students who could not graduate because of the states CAHSEE testing may now be eligible to get their diploma. Managing Editor Tami Roleff explains…
Morongo Basin students who couldn’t receive their high school diploma because they didn’t pass the California High School Exit Exam will be able to get a diploma, after Governor Brown signed a bill in August that canceled the CAHSEE as a requirement for graduation. Students who attended a Morongo Basin high school between 2003 and now, and who fulfilled all the requirements for graduation except for passing the CAHSEE, call Jennifer Beasley at 760-367-9191, extension 4338. If you are eligible, you will be given your diploma in January, when the new law goes into effect. Students who are currently in high school will no longer be required to take the CAHSEE exam to graduate, although all other requirements remain in effect.
