PART 4 OF A 5-PART RATE INCREASE HITS JOSHUA BASIN WATER CUSTOMERS

More than three years ago, Joshua Basin Water District reached out to its customers regarding a rate increase that would finally allow the water district to replace water pipe infrastructure after more than 70 years. Ernest Figueroa says the rates are increased in January…

With substantial input from Joshua Basin Water District customers, the water district approved water rate increases in 2018 that are designed to fund the costs of providing service and infrastructure projects over the next five years, and gradually increase conservation incentives while partially reducing the rate impacts on low water users. Some of the funds from the water rate increases are placed in a special account just for capital improvement and replacement projects and can’t be used for anything else. Water and meter rates increased January 1; rates for a ¾- or 1-inch meter increased by about $3.50 per month; and water rates increased from $5.05 per unit to $5.70 per unit (one unit is 748 gallons). The new rates will be seen on customers’ March bill. To learn more about the fourth pre-approved rate increase, see the links below.
