A candidate forum was held at Joshua Tree Elementary School on Tuesday night for the candidates running for Morongo Unified School District board of trustee positions. The first part focused on the candidates running in District area 4. In the second part of this two-part story, reporter Andrew Dieleman tells us about Jennifer Decker and incumbent Chris Proudfoot, the candidates running in District area 5…
Decker said that living in Joshua Tree for the past 17 years has given her a good community perspective, and that her knowledge of federal funding and previous work on governing boards has prepared her for the position. Decker discussed increasing community relations and emphasized the need to maintain value and respect of district staff and faculty.
Proudfoot said that living in Twentynine Palms for his entire life has also given him a great community perspective, and that his past two terms as a board member have prepared him to run again. Proudfoot emphasized the need to prioritize the district’s resources to ensure that the students are always put first in district decisions.
Morongo Unified School District short-term seat candidate Karrie Condley recently backed out of running for the board. Donna Munoz, who had previously withdrawn her name from the election, agreed to run as the only candidate for the short-term seat.
