PAROLEE ARRESTED WITH DRUGS AND WEAPONS AFTER FOOT PURSUIT

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Saturday morning following a short foot pursuit. Deputies were on patrol in the area of Highway 62 and Smoketree Avenue in Twentynine Palms when they attempted to contact Terrence Cruz, 33. Cruz fled on foot. During the short foot pursuit, Cruz allegedly dropped a loaded .22-caliber handgun that was later recovered. Cruz struggled when deputies caught him. During a search of Cruz, deputies found two large baggies of suspected methamphetamine. Deputies learned that Cruz was a parolee at large and had a felony warrant for his arrest. Terrence Cruz was arrested for investigation of possession of a controlled substance, and violating the terms of his parole, and booked into the West Valley Detention Center and is being held without bail.
