A Twentynine Palms woman was arrested Friday, accused of possessing tear gas. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies went to a home in the 71100 block of Taco Drive Friday about 9:20 p.m. to assist with a parole compliance check of Maria Bassett, 33. During the search, deputies located a container of tear gas on a shelf in the hallway, along with meth pills and drug paraphernalia. Also in the home was Humberto Gonzalez, 32. The report states that while Bassett admitted to the possession of the drugs and paraphernalia, both she and Gonzalez denied the tear gas belonged to them. Maria Bassett and Humburto Gonzalez were arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of tear gas, booked into West Valley Detention Center, with their bail set at $25,000 each.
