PALM SPRINGS TRAM IS FREE IN JULY TO ALL MILITARY

Updated: 07/08/19

Every July, the Palm Springs Tram offers free admission to military members and their spouses. Managing editor Tami Roleff gets out her ID card…

Escape the summer desert heat by cooling off at 8,500 feet elevation on Mount San Jacinto. During the entire month of July, all U.S. military personnel with valid military identification—active, former and retired—receive complimentary admission to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway along with a special gift as part of Military Days. Spouses of deployed military members, including military widows and widowers, as well as additional guests in the party, up to 4 total in the party, will receive 25 percent off of their regular tramway fares. Spouses may receive complimentary admission if the military member is deployed and unable to visit.

According to Tramway General Manager Nancy Nichols, “For more than a decade, Military Days has been a way of showing our gratitude to the dedicated men and women of the United States Armed Forces— along with their friends and families— for their service and sacrifice. We are delighted to welcome them back again this July.”

While visiting, Tramway guests can enjoy:

•         Hiking the 50+ miles of pristine wilderness in the Mount San Jacinto State Park.
•         Picnicking under a beautiful pine forest.
•         Joining guided nature walks free of charge on Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day Weekend.
•         Dining in either Peaks Restaurant, a fine dining experience, or Pines Café, a cafeteria-style restaurant.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the world’s largest rotating tram car. Opened in 1963, the Tram’s 80-passenger cars travel along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon from the Valley Station (elevation 2,643 ft.) to the Mountain Station (elevation 8,516 ft.) in approximately 10 minutes. Tickets are $26.95 for adults, $24.95 for seniors (65+) and $16.95 for children (3-10). For more information, please call 888-515-TRAM or 760-325-1391, or visit www.pstramway.com. Also, download the free mobile tour now available in the App Store/Google Play.
