A reported ownership dispute over the legendary high desert restaurant and concert venue Pappy and Harriet’s is heading to court soon. Jef Harmatz is here with an overview of the goings-on.
As reported by Dave Brooks for Billboard, a question regarding the ownership of the Pioneertown mainstay is headed to court in July. Pappy and Harriet’s was sold to an investment group in April 2021. JB Moresco and Lisa Elin, who reportedly spearheaded the purchase, were tasked with managing the operations of the restaurant. Other members of the investment group, including Knitting Factory CEO Morgan Margolis, have filed a nine-count lawsuit against Moresco and Elin, accusing them of shutting investors out of the business, canceling events, and costing investors hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue. Documents from the lawsuit also allege that Moresco and Elin have come into conflict with Pioneertown neighbors and businesses. A hearing regarding this lawsuit is currently scheduled for July 28.
