OWNER SPOTS STOLEN TOY HAULER AND GIVES CHASE; SUSPECT ARRESTED

A sharp-eyed owner who spotted her stolen toy hauler trailer being towed in Joshua Tree ended up getting her trailer back, and the man towing it was arrested. The toy hauler was stolen out of an airport hangar in Yucca Valley several weeks ago, and on Wednesday, the owner spotted it being towed on Highway 62 in Joshua Tree at about 7:45 a.m. The woman called the Sheriff’s Department and followed the driver as he turned onto Sunfair, Sun Mesa Roads in Joshua Tree, before stopping at a home on Sunflower Road. The woman told dispatchers that she thought the people towing her toy hauler had figured out she was watching them, as the driver suddenly drove off westbound on Sunflower at a high rate of speed. The driver then became stuck in dirt in the desert. Deputies arrived and arrested Victor Murray, 35, for investigation of receiving stolen property. Victor Murray was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $25,000.
