Twentynine Palms High School officials issued a statement about a mid-season basketball team coaching change Tuesday that provided very little information. Yesterday, the ousted head coach, Kevin Cole, responded. Cole told Z107.7 News, he is saddened that he was asked to resign. “I did not file the appropriate paperwork for an out-of-town tournament that the team traveled to over the Christmas holiday, including an injury report for an injury sustained by one of the players. While I did inform the parent immediately, the school felt I was remiss in informing them. I alone had this responsibility.” Cole continued, “I have given over 10 years of my time, energy, money, and love to the players in this program and I believe this program has been responsible in some part for the success of many of the players that have passed through it. I hope that as the torch is passed to the next regime, they remember that as important as liability is in today’s world, so are the kids.”
