Theatre 29 is offering area theater-goers a unique opportunity. A special two-week run of an original play will start this Friday at the Morongo Basin’s premiere theater venue. Managing Editor Tami Roleff urges you make reservations now to see the debut of “Actress” by award winning writer Josh Lazar…
A second original play is the next production at Theatre 29. “Actress, by Josh Lazar of Twentynine Palms, will make its West Coast debut for the first two weekends in August. Lazar is a lawyer, high school English teacher, journalist, and playwright. According to Lazar, “Actress” was written as homage to world of theater, and the tortuous road that actors travel in pursuing their dreams. “Actress” is also about giving up those dreams, and the road to self-acceptance. If the play has a motto, it’s, “You can achieve anything, as long as you are willing to pay the price to get there.” The show features a seasoned cast of up and coming performers with strong theatrical backgrounds, Mark Colbenson, Claire Burgi, Anthony Specchio, Veronica Kelly, and Jennie Floyd. Actress runs Friday, Saturday, August 3, 4, and 10, 11, at 7 p.m., and 2:30 Sunday matinees on August 5 and 12. Tickets for “Actress” are available online at www.theatre29.org or by calling the Theatre 29 box office at 760-361-4151. Ticket prices are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors and military; and $8 for students.
