OPPORTUNITY TO SEE SPACE STATION TONIGHT

Night sky fans are in for a treat this evening when the International Space Station will fly over our Morongo Basin, and barring cloud cover or rain, it will be visible to the naked eye for about two minutes. Roughly the size of a football field and flying at 15 miles per second, the station will appear as a very bright light coming from the west south west at 5:58 p.m. and disappearing in the north-northeast at 6 p.m. If you miss tonight’s flyover, don’t worry, there will be four more excellent opportunities to see the Earth’s second largest satellite with two flyovers tomorrow night, one Saturday, and one Sunday. And if you want to catch a glimpse of Earth’s largest satellite, look no farther than the Moon.
