Several sex offenders throughout San Bernardino County were arrested during a targeted sweep conducted by the Sheriff’s Department.
Called Operation Spring Cleaning, the Department’s initiative identified and arrested suspects who sought to use the internet to contact and abuse children and ensure that registered sex offenders were compliant with their registration requirements. The operation ran from April 5 through April 19.
20 residential search warrants were served across San Bernardino County and more that 480 compliance checks were conducted. 73 arrests were made for charges that included rape, lewd acts with a minor, contacting a minor, possession and distribution of child pornography, failure to register as a sex offender, and more.
Z107.7’s monitoring of arrests suggests that throughout the Morongo Basin several registered sex offenders were contacted but no arrests were made in our area.
