Area theatre goers have a rare opportunity this Friday, July 5, when “Steel Magnolias” opens in Yucca Valley. Not only is it the opening night of a great show, but also marks the opening of the premier production of The St. Joseph’s Players, our area’s newest theatre group. In honor of the occasion, a gala celebration is planned to benefit Reach Out Morongo Basin beginning at 7 p.m. The event takes place at Rusack Hall at St. Joseph of Arimathea Church in Yucca Valley, at the corner of Church St. and Onaga Trail. Tickets for this special event only are $25 and are only available through the church or through Reach Out Morongo Basin at 760-361-1410. The church box office number is 760-365-7133. Planned events for opening night include refreshments, desserts and a silent auction followed by the show. Works from local artists will also be available for sale with some of the proceeds going to the newly formed theatre company towards future productions. Don’t miss your chance to support the area’s newest theatre group at this historic opening night.
