Area theater goers have a rare opportunity tonight when “Steel Magnolias” opens in Yucca Valley. Not only is it the opening night of a great show, but it also marks the opening of the area’s newest theater group, The St. Joseph’s Players. In honor of the occasion, a gala celebration is planned, beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, to benefit Reach Out Morongo Basin. And if you miss opening night, you’ll have a few more opportunities to see it, as the play runs Fridays and Saturdays through July 27, with Sunday matinees on July 14 and 21 at 2 p.m. The performance takes place at St. Joseph of Arimathea Church in Yucca Valley, at the corner of Church Street and Onaga Trail. For tickets, call the church box office number at 760-365-7133.
