The 29 Palms Art Gallery will host an opening reception for noted desert artists, Chuck Caplinger and Heather Sprague, on Saturday, November 3 from 5 to 7 pm. Caplinger’s exhibition, “In an Earthly Manner,” focuses on early desert settlers and features oils and giclées – photo reproductions. Caplinger used images of early settlers, prospectors, miners, and Chemehuevi Indians as a basis for his art. Sprague’s exhibition called, “An American Woman,” conveys a uniquely female perspective by utilizing photography, time-lapse and real-time videos pulled from 100,000 images taken over 366 days. Sprague will also present a live performance art piece at 6 p.m. The 29 Palms Art Gallery is located at 74055 Cottonwood Drive at the corner of National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms. The exhibition will run through November 25.
