Covered California is the state’s health insurance marketplace that provides health insurance policies to Californians under age 65 who do not qualify for Medicare. Open enrollment for 2019 new coverage begins November 1 and runs through December 15. Covered California offers brand-name health insurance under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and it’s the only place to get federal premium assistance to help Californians buy health insurance from participating health insurance companies.
