One person is dead, and three others are injured, following a multi-vehicle crash early Monday morning on Interstate 10 near Desert Hot Springs. The California Highway Patrol says about 5 a.m., a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle ridden by Aaron Coates, 34, of Yucca Valley, collided with a 2002 Acura, driven by Raymond Vasquez, of Desert Hot Springs, on eastbound I-10 just west of Palm Drive. The Acura veered left and struck the guardrail, and was then hit by a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck and a 2013 Freightliner big rig. The Acura sustained major damage and Vasquez and a passenger suffered serious injuries. Vasquez subsequently died. Coates received serious injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck received minor injuries. The CHP says drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
