ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHEN IT COMES TO TRASH IN OUR DESERT

Clean Teams volunteer throughout Morongo Basin, but assignment reporter Taylor Thacker tells us about how an independent resident of Twentynine Palms takes trash into her own hands …
Most people don’t realize that trash can really affect an environment and when it’s not properly disposed of, it can get out of the trashcans and be blown all over the place. One woman, Jenifer Lorei, does her best to keep our city clean and to help our environment. Jenifer’s daughter, Amanda Lorei, wanted to honor her mom by sharing all the hard work she does. Jenifer brings her own trash bags to pick up trash, and every Friday she walks up and down streets from Encelia to Lupine. Amanda says, “Sometimes it takes her two to three hours. She does it because she likes to be outdoors and loves to see a clean environment.” Amanda suggests to people and business owners “to make sure you control your trash cans by checking that the lid is securely shut and to not throw your trash out the window of your car.”
