ONE IN CUSTODY, ONE SOUGHT, AFTER YUCCA VALLEY SHOOTING

Police have arrested one man and are searching for another after a third man was shot in Yucca Valley Saturday evening. According to Sheriff’s Corporal Steve Everhart, Adam Webster was at his mother’s home in the 1600 block of Deer Trail in Yucca Valley when two men drove up in a black vehicle about 7:30 p.m. The men, identified as Brian Watson, 39, of Landers, and Charles Riggs, 23, began yelling for Webster. Everhart said when Webster went outside, Watson threatened him with a stun gun and a knife, and then Riggs shot Webster with a small-caliber gun, striking him in the upper right thigh. Watson and Riggs then took off in their vehicle and Webster’s mother called 911 to report the shooting. Everhart said that Webster was extremely uncooperative with both the Sheriff’s department and with responding paramedics. Webster was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment, but checked himself out against medical advice before the bullet was removed, and while still wearing his hospital gown. Meanwhile, deputies located Watson driving southbound on Old Woman Springs Road at Wood Avenue. Everhart said Watson told deputies he had dropped off Riggs, but wouldn’t tell them where, and the Sheriff’s Department is still searching for Charles Riggs. Brian Watson was arrested for investigation of attempted murder and as an accessory, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $1 million.
