ONE HURT, ONE ARRESTED FOR DUI IN TWENTYNINE PALMS CRASH

A suspected drunk driver was arrested Sunday morning after he crashed into another vehicle in Twentynine Palms. According to a Sheriff’s report, Marine Lance Corporal Kevin Jefferson, 22, of First Tanks Battalion on board the Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, was driving his 2013 Chevy Cruze northbound on Adobe Road about 7:15 a.m. Sunday morning when he ran a red light at Condor Road and crashed into a red Jeep Wrangler, driven by Marine Chief Warrant Officer-4 Christian Wade, 45, of Stafford, Virginia. Wade told the deputy he had the green light and was entering the intersection from westbound Condor Road. The report states the impact knocked the Jeep onto its side, and Wade blacked out after the crash. He was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. According to the report, Jefferson admitted to drinking Saturday night, and a field sobriety test revealed that he was driving under the influence, with a blood alcohol content of nearly twice the legal limit. Kevin Jefferson was arrested for investigation of felony driving under the influence causing injury, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
