One person is dead and three others injured in a head-on crash on Amboy Road Tuesday afternoon. About 3:15 p.m. a white subcompact car and a mid-sized sedan collided on Amboy Road about nine miles south of Amboy. County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Tuttle said the female driver—and sole occupant of the subcompact car– was trapped inside her vehicle and the fire department had to use the Jaws of Life to get to her. However, she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Helicopters from the Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol flew two children and the female driver of the other car to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. One child suffered serious injuries; Tuttle said the woman and the second child had moderate injuries. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
